Whats In My Bag: Fawn Design

We are summer ready at out house, but the weather is just not cooperating! It hasn’t been above 60 degrees in weeks it feels like. I’ve been using my Fawn Design diaper bag non-stop this summer, and today I pulled out some of my favorite summer time goodies I’ve been carrying around.
What have you been carrying this summer?

Weekend Roundup

Happy Friday!

Here are a few fun things we did this week.

Farmers Market fun! Everyone was tuckered out from playing and snacking on seriously delicious strawberries (and chips).

We finally had a day hot enough to bring out the pool and water table. I don’t understand how people in Washington get much swimming done- I feel like if its below 75, its too cold!

We also took a lot of walks this week. Taking advantage of the sun- and its just so sweet to see Randsom look after Emersyn!

Happy Weekend to you all!

Memorial Day 2017

We were blessed to be able to spend Memorial Day with family this year. It has been wonderful having Grant’s family in town so often. We love spending time with them, and I’m happy the kids are able to be with that side of the family so often. We spent the day enjoying cooking out, and running around outside in the beautiful weather! I am a huge lover of Memorial Day (and the 4th of July)- they have always been a close second to Christmas in my mind. Something about the start of summer and spending time with family outdoors.

I know that these holidays are hard earned by our troops, and that many of them did not get to enjoy the day with their family. I am so thankful for all the sacrifices made by those who choose to serve our country.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart on this Memorial Day.

Randsom Eats Out

We did something exciting a few days ago. We went out to eat at a restaurant with the kids. This may not seem like that big of a deal, but for our family it was a huge moment. We have not taken Randsom (and now Emersyn) out to eat since we found out about his severe food allergies… that was almost 3 years ago.

After a lot of research and phone calls with managers, I finally found a place that I felt somewhat safe taking him to eat. It is a little Mexican restaurant near our house. We loaded the kids up and headed out for some tacos. Randsom was SO excited that he was finally going to eat out- he could hardly believe that he was allowed to eat the food. It was such an exciting experience for him and for our family. I, of course, was terrified the whole time that he would have a reaction and monitored him closely for several hours after he ate… and he was fine. We are looking forward to more taco nights. And maybe even finding more new places to try.

Happy Eating!

Emersyn’s 1st Birthday

I can’t believe Emersyn’s birthday has come and gone! I now have a 1 year old little lady.

We had so much fun celebrating Emma yesterday with family. I think she had a lot of fun, I am so thankful that Grant’s parents and sister and my mom and sister were able to come to town and help us celebrate. Emersyn seemed to enjoy all the attention. She also loved all the party decorations, especially the flowers!

I am especially proud of the birthday cake I made for her. After my two children, I’m pretty sure it is the best thing I’ve ever made ;). It was dairy and egg free, and tasted delicious! I will post her 1 year update soon, but for now here are a few pictures from her party!

Christmas Photos 2016

We were blessed to have some Christmas pictures taken this year, and I’m so excited about them! We loved the photographer who took our family photos a few months ago- and she was doing a Christmas special that we couldn’t pass up. I have been so bad about sending out Christmas cards, but this year- I’m on it! Hope you all enjoy these as much as I do!

Happy Holidays!

Pumpkin Picking

My family spent yesterday morning picking out pumpkins! It was so much fun, and we were especially glad that Daddy was able to join us for our little adventure. He has been so busy this semester, we hardly see him! Anyway, Randsom loved seeing all the pumpkins and sitting on the big red tractor! Emma was also thrilled at all the fall sights. Washington is absolutely beautiful this time of year, we are so glad to have been able to enjoy it. Stay tuned for pumpkin painting pictures!

Happy Sunday,

Weekend Round Up

Its that time again. The weekend! Here is what we have been up to this week.

We started off the week over at Nana and Papa’s new house. They were kind enough to purchase some fun “gym” toys for Randsom and Emma to use- which has been great! We loved going over and run enjoying the new set up. It is also really helpful for Randsom to get in some practice with balance and coordination.

This week, Randsom has his Batman dreams come true. I purchased him a “blue” batman costume, and I have never seen a child more happy. He has been asking to dress up as a “blue Batman” for months now. I have no idea why he loves the vintage Batman so much- but I love it! He was so happy about his new costume that he hasn’t wanted to take it off! We went to the park to feed ducks the next day, with Batman. All very exciting.

Next, the kids and I picked up Daddy from school, and headed over to our local fair. This was the first time Randsom had ever been to a fair- and it was a blast! We all enjoyed seeing the animals, booths, and even riding a few rides.

One Year Update

IMG_0539

As of August 4th, we have been living in Washington for 1 year! Time seems to have flown by, and also dragged on all at the same time. I still remember crying my eyes out as I hugged my family goodbye before we left. I didn’t talk the whole first hour of our drive and I was sick to my stomach… but that last part was probably because I was pregnant and hadn’t realized it yet ;).

I thought it would be appropriate to give a family update, one year into our adventure. A lot has changed, and thankfully some things have stayed the same.

The biggest change has been adding a new member to our family! This last year I was pregnant while adjusting to our move. It was really hard being away from my family (especially my mom) while I was sick. I was afraid that my pregnancy would have complications like my last did, and I felt so alone. There were some hard days, and a few set backs (like having to have another c-section) but thankfully everything worked out, and Emersyn Claire is such a joy in our lives! I still can’t believe that she is here, and that just one year ago we weren’t even expecting her presence!

The second biggest adjustment was adjusting to how busy Grant was (and is!). I knew going into this that Grant would have to work hard, but it didn’t dawn on me just how hard it would be for me. Most days, Grant was at school (either in class, or studying) from 7 in the morning until 8 or 9 and night. Sometimes he would stop home for dinner, but he always left quickly to get back to studying. Randsom and I both missed him, and honestly I know it will be even harder when school starts again this year. Thankfully, Grant is loving school, so that makes it easier to get through the long days without him. I know that 3 years from now I will be writing about his graduation, and it will all have been worth it. Going into this next year, my expectations will be more managed, and I will have two kids to fill the lonely days.

We became members at our church this year, and we are slowly getting more and more connected. I’m thankful to be surrounded by such a strong community of believers! We have met so many great people, and I’m blessed to have made a few mommy friends. I can’t wait to start Bible Study again in the fall and reconnect after a summer away.

I am loving our home here, we are so blessed to be in a house and not an apartment. I’ve enjoyed decorating with the knowledge that things will stay for a few years. I’ve never been motivated to hang pictures or truly decorate before because we moved so many times. I’m excited to share some of my projects with you guys! I’ve already shared Randsom’s bedroom, which I LOVE. Our neighborhood is also wonderful, I love living a few blocks from an amazing park with a beautiful lake. We have really enjoyed the small town feel, and also the amazing local farmers market every weekend. Overall, Washington is really starting to grow on me. It will never be “home”, but it holds a special place in my heart. I even miss it a little bit when we travel.

I can’t wait to see what this next year brings!

Blessings,
Mommy Little
