Emersyn Update

Well, I fell of the blogging world again. I go through phases where posting comes easily, and then life happens and I drop the ball. So today I’m doing Emersyn’s 6, 7, and 8 month update!

Emersyn is 8 months old as of 3 days ago. She is army crawling, eating some solids, and saying mama! She is still waking up 3 times a night to nurse, which has not been my favorite thing, but she always goes right back to sleep on her own once she is done- which makes it bearable. Emersyn loves crawling around and exploring- she especially loves when we have play time in brothers room and she can have free reign of all the toys! Over all, she is a very happy and chatty baby! She loves when people talk to her and she will usually try and talk back. Its easier taking her places than staying home all day, which is not how it was with Randsom! I love seeing all the small differences between my kids.

So here are some pictures from month 8, 7, and 6!

Changes: Blog About What You Love

Confession time.

I don’t always love blogging.

There I said it. Sometimes it feels like I’m trying to push out content that others will love, instead of writing about what I truly enjoy. I love the community that I have found here in the blogging world, but I feel like my best connections are on Instagram and not my blog. And honestly, I’m feeling burnt out.

So from here on out- I will be making a few changes to my blog. I will be posting everything from my usual “mom” posts and family updates, to fashion and beauty. I have lots of interests and I want my blog to showcase that. I hope you will stay with me as I try to figure this all out.

As always,

Emersyn Claire: 4 Months

This last month has been a roller coaster ride!
At least for me. I’m sure Emma feels great.
She is a drooling machine lately, I really think she is working on some teeth! Nothing has popped through yet, but I hope they do soon because girlfriend is cranky. She is waking up a lot at night again as well. These last few nights she has been up every. single. hour. I try nurse her and put her back to sleep, but usually she isn’t having it and just wants to be held. I’m hoping this ends once the teeth come in.

During the day she is a pretty happy girl as long as someone is talking to her or she is being held. She loves her face to face time, and I always get big smiles when I sing to her. She is rolling from tummy to back, and is SO close to rolling from back to tummy! She also scoots around in circles if she is on her play mat. I feel like she is a lot more active than Randsom was at this age. She keeps me busy and I love her to death!

Weight: 16 pounds and 6 ounces which is 90th percentile.

Height: 27″ which is 98tn percentile!

Can’t wait to see what next month brings!

Emersyn Claire: 3 Months

Well it looks like I have a 3 year old AND a 3 month old. I still can’t wrap my head around that some days.

Emma is such a smiley baby girl. She loves when people (mostly her brother) look at her and talk. She is cooing all the time, which is absolutely adorable. Several days ago, she gave us her first real laugh! I was giving her kisses on her cheek and she thought it was hilarious.

She is sleeping alright, waking up 2 times at night to eat. She still takes one really amazing 3 hour nap in the afternoon, along with a lot of short naps through out the day. Nursing is going well, she is eating like a champ! And mommy’s milk supply has finally leveled out, making things easier on both of us.

She is doing better with tummy time, and I swear she is close to rolling both from tummy to back and vise versa. I know its early, but she is a mover and a shaker! Which brings me to another thing, she hates holding still when she is awake! She loves kicking her legs and waving her arms all about. Heaven forbid she be left in her bouncer for more than 5 minutes- she can’t stand sitting in that thing anymore.

She is also drooling everywhere! I can’t help but think she is teething, with all the drooling and fist biting she is doing these days. I will keep my eyes open for some teeth.

We love Emersyn SO much. She is such a huge blessing to our family.

Emersyn Claire: 2 Months

That was such a fast month for us!

Emma is now 2 months old and she is changing more everyday. She is now 12lbs 9oz and 23 and 1/2 inches long, what a growth spurt! I love watching her little personality shine through. This month she started smiling, she loves when people talk to her and look her in the eyes, that is how you get the biggest smiles out of that lady. We also heard her giggle for the first time yesterday, and it made my mommy heart so happy!

She is sleeping a good 6 hour stretch at the beginning of each night, which is great for mama! She also takes at least one 3 hour nap a day, which is great when I can line it up with Randsom’s nap/quiet time.

She loves her brother and enjoys when he talks and sings to her. She also tried a bottle for the first time, and took it like a pro! Which is such a relief because Randsom never took one and it made going out for a few hours very difficult.

Other things she enjoys are: bubble baths, her pacifier, and being held like a big girl so she can see what is going on!

Oh Hey Friday

Happ Friday internet family! I’m currently reminiscing about the days when Friday meant I would have the next two days to sleep, go out with friends, and binge watch Netflix! Now I’m a mom and getting up at 6, knowing there won’t be a break any time soon. Thankfully I love being a mommy to my two Littles, and we have been up to some fun things this week!

1. We enjoyed an evening at the park at the beginning of the week. We love having daddy around to go down slides, chase, and just generally be crazy with.

2. We traveled to Palouse Falls and did some hiking. I had a few panic attacks while walking next to the edge of the cliff, but no on fell off and the view was beautiful!

3. First watermelon of the summer. Do I need to say anything else?

4. I’ve been giving baby girl baths in the sink, it’s just easier since she can’t support herself at all yet. But I think she might be outgrowing this option. I can’t believe she is almost two months already!

5. My babies. They are my world, and I pinch myself when we have moments like this. I can’t believe how lucky I am to be their mommy- out of all my adventures, being a mom has been the best one.

Hope you have a fantastic Friday!

Emersyn Claire: Birth Story

Well guys, I’m finally doing it! Here is Emersyns birth story. Hopefully I remember the details so I can look back on this next time baby fever hits and calm myself. Ha.

I found out pretty early on in my pregnancy with Emma that I would have to have a repeat c-section due to hospital procedures in the small town where we live. I was not very thrilled, but I accepted it and moved on. My amazing mom and sister came in to town on April 1st. I was so glad that they were able to come and help with Randsom while I was in the hospital- especially because Grant was preparing for finals at school. They were honestly lifesavers!

On April 5th, My husband and I left for the hospital at 4:45 AM. My c-section was scheduled for 7am but I had to check in at 5. It was crazy early and I hadn’t gotten much sleep the night before. It was so bitter sweet putting Randsom to bed, knowing it was the last time he would be my only baby.
They put me in the very back room in the birthing center because they knew I would be staying several days. The nurse came in and put in my IV (took 3 tries, and I had bruises for several days. Ouch). After a quick check on the baby, we were left to wait until surgery time. I’ll admit was was scared. I dreaded the spinal since I found out that I’d be having another Csection.

Finally 7 am rolled around and they had me walk down to the surgery area. Grant waited outside and put on his fancy “scrubs” while they took me in to get me prepped. I was more scared this time than I was with Randsom. I think I had been so worried about Randsom that I never had time to think about what was happening to me. This time around, I was much more aware of what was happening. I cried when they set me up on the table- but I’m going to blame pregnancy hormones and lack of sleep for that ;). Thankfully it only took one stick this time for me to get numb. And Grant was back by my side soon after that.

One thing I didn’t expect was that it would take longer this time. I guess they cut out all the previous scar tissue before they take baby out. It was hard just laying there for so long not knowing why it was taking longer than it did the first time. Finally I felt the tell tale tugging and pulling. Emersyn came out crying and all I remember after that was my doctor saying “looks like you birthed another toddler”! We had joked my whole pregnancy about how I have big babies. They brought her over and I was able to give her a kiss and take a picture. Then they wisked her off to get checked out and cleaned up. Grant went with Emersyn while I got stitched up. I just remember it took a long time and I was feeling very light headed.

When they were done, the wheeled me back to my room to rest. I was able to snuggle and feed Emersyn, it was such a sweet time. Later that afternoon, my mom and sister brought Randsom to meet his new  little sister. I think he was a little overwhelmed by everything, but he did hold her and give her a kiss.

I ended up having to stay at the hospital 5 days. I always struggle with anemia, even when I’m not pregnant, but I lost a lost of blood during surgery and at two days post partum I was still dizzy and light headed even laying down. I ended up needing two blood transfusions just to get back up to an acceptable range to leave the hospital. It was not fun, I needed a new IV (which was even worse than the first because both my arms were all bruised) and I couldn’t move while it was being done. Thankfully Grant was able to help bring me Emma during feelings when he was there, and the nurses I had were so kind and helpful!

I was so glad when we were finally allowed to go home!

Emersyn is healthy and adorable. I am truly blessed to have her as my daughter and I would go through surgery/birth a million more time just to have her if I had to.

Emersyn Claire: 1 Month

Yes. It has been 1 month with our beautiful Emersyn, and I have yet to post her birth story. I promise I will get around to it eventually. For now lets talk about her first month of life.

Weight: 9lbs 5oz

Height: 22 inches

Sleep: She sleeps for a good 4 hour stretch starting around 10, and then wakes every 2 hours to eat after that during the night. She is napping well during the day, usually in her bouncer.

Nursing: This has been a struggle. I produce way to much milk and have a really fast let down, so she has had trouble with reflux and staying latched. We are working on it.

Randsom loves her to death, and will run to her side as soon as she starts crying. Usually he tries to comfort her by singing twinkle little star, and it melts my heart every time. Its been a tough month adjusting to two kids, but so fun.
